ABOUT ABOUT

The popularization of the bicycle in 1885 opened up a new world for many, encouraged development of our highway system and prompted overdue changes in women’s clothing, among other things. Learn how bicyclists, not automobile drivers, led the fight for good roads and meet members of the Capitol City Wheelmen and other pioneering bicycle clubs!

Notes:

  • These are walking tours. Please wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Tours are not typically canceled due to weather.
  • Parking is available on the street or at the Riverside Target. We recommend avoiding parking in the Selland's lot across the street from the cemetery to reduce the risk of being towed.
  • The Old City Cemetery Committee, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to raising funds for the restoration and repair of historic monuments and headstones at Sacramento's "Old City Cemetery."
